Keeping hens in the back garden

Many people like keeping a few laying hens in the backyard or garden. In fact, the backyard poultry keeper is a time honoured tradition. The free fresh eggs are often just a bonus from keeping chickens as pets and their web sites tell it all.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having hens as pets, do not let the puritans make you feel guilty!
