Why Ex-Battery Hens need Special Food
All the battery hen has known is a small cage with one type of food.
It will take them a while to become used to freedom and a choice
of foods. They will get there in time but it is critical you feed
them crumb for the first few weeks. It is all they've known and
recognise as food.
You can introduce Ex-Bats Pellets straight away too, but please
ensure they have access to Ex-Bats Crumbs at the same time. It
is possible that they may flick out some of the pellets initially,
as they don’t recognise them at first but will get used to them
in time.
